To modernise an old Access database to enable better automation/integration and reporting etc
Move an existing Access database into SharePoint & build a new PowerApps front end.
Customer has a modern, fast solution for Customer Complaints which is ready for modern integration and can be reported on
At Springboard IT we are often approached by organisations that are using older technologies that lack some of the benefits of modern software. Older software products can struggle to keep up with modern concepts such as:
• Integration options
• Automation options
• Multiuser access
• Remote Access
We are constantly looking at ways to improve business processes for our customers, increase efficient and maximise data insights.
Recently an existing customer expressed an interest in modernising their Complaints Access Database. In this case the main driving factor for the interest was the licensing costs for Microsoft Access and the fact that users required a connection to the network to access the system. Certain features of the system were no longer required. Integration with and the reporting of were key areas of interest in the new system.
In this case the solution wasn’t to throw away the existing system and start again. The data was structured very well and it made sense to keep it. Instead, we migrated the database from Microsoft Access to SharePoint and we built new front end user screens in PowerApps for 365.
The result meant that the client was left with:
• A cloud-based database that can be accessed by any member of staff with sufficient permissions.
• Automated PowerBI reporting.
• Automated email notifications when tasks are created.
• A large saving on the previously required Access licenses.
PowerApps is a rapid application development framework that enables us to get very far very quickly. It often works out cheaper than bespoke development.
Often legacy systems work very well but lack some modern concepts. A complete rebuild is often not necessary and sometimes a facelift is sufficient.
